Politika Newspaper weekly puzzle 15

Hey there,

Again, in Politika Newspaper, Marjan Kovačević, grandmaster of chess composition, published another problem from the European Championship. This time it is mate in 4, with an idea which is very hard to find. So, as always on my blog, you can try this tough puzzle here:

Hello everyone,
This is an endgame study from European Team Senior Championsip in solving chess problems in Athens, of which will be discussed later. As I don't want to reveal too much, the study has got great content, with very nice moves, as you can see:

Politika Newspaper weekly puzzle 13

On 9-10 Apr 2016, chess problem composing and solving tournament in Baku was ongoing. The following problem achieved special prize. White uses Black's vulnerable King position to play a nice little tactical move, and Black can't avoid the misery.

Final Cadet Chess Championship of Belgrade Boys U12 - Round 4

Hello everyone,
I've played in Final Cadet Chess Championship of Belgrade Boys U12, as you can see here:

http://drdukis-chess-corner4.blogspot.rs/2016/04/great-sunday_6.html

I have played my best game in tournament at round 4, I was board 4.  This game I prepared for 3..a6, but my opponent played 3..Qc7, a move that I've never seen before. So, here's the game:

Mijatovic, Dusan (1652 FIDE) - A.M. (0 FIDE)
1-0 , Round 4 , Apr 3, 2016 ECO: B30

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 Qc7
As I said, I prepared for 3..a6, so all next moves I found during the game.
4. O-O a6 5. Bxc6 Qxc6?
He should of done either both good 5... bxc6 with the idea 6...a5 7... Ba6 or 5... dxc6 with classical development.
6. d4!

A pawn sacrifice, that I didn't prepare at home and compensation for a pawn is tremendous lead in development.
6... Qxe4 7. Nc3 Qc6 8. dxc5 Qxc5?!
8... e6 and I am a little better. Now I am really better.
9. Ne4 Qc6 10. Te1
Threatening 11.Nd6+
Main variation I calculated is : 10... e6 11. Bf4! d5 12. Ne5! Qb5 13. c4! dc4 14. Rc1! +-

Such a beautiful position! White is down two pawns, and when I put this in the engine, it says +- (4.44)!!!
Unfortunately, he played:
10... g6?? 11. Nd6+ Kd8 12. Nxf7+ Ke8 13. Nxh8? (Nd6+ Ke8 14. Ne5 +-)  Qf6 14. Nxg6 Qxg6 15. Ne5 Qf6 16. Qh5+ Kd8 17. Qxh7 Qg7 18. Qxg7 Bxg7 19. Nc4 Kc7 20. Be3 Rb8?! 21. Bf4+! d6 22. Rxe7+!

22... Nxe7 23. Bxd6+ Kc6 24. Bxb8

And on move 50, Black gave up.

After this win, i got 2.5 out of 4, and got good chances for winning bronze medal:

Politika Newspaper weekly puzzle 12

This is mate in two miniature. A Queen sac, with 4 different mates. Very cute problem, with very nice Model mates in variations. All three variations are taking pieces, therefore there are not so much pieces near the King, so Model mates are available that way.
Such a nice little problem, a great problem for Politika.

Also on Sunday 03.04.2016. I received an information that I achieved 3. place in GCPCC 2016 (Guided Chess Problem Composing Competition 2016) organized by OzProblems  Australian Chess Problem Composition.

On the same day I've achieved 2nd prize in the school district competition (Serbian grammar).

What more I can say, that was The Great Sunday!
